Something is rotten in the state of Auburn

An oh-so-brief history since I've seen it:
  • I was made fun of in elementary school for being an Auburn fan until Pat "about 60 minutes" Dye came along. Then bammers started jumping ship.

  • Bowden came in, did well (Hell, I bought in...he was at Auburn while I was in school at AU), and later completely lost control of the program. We all remember the rumors, innuendos, and the attached picture.

  • Tuberville came in after denying Auburn came calling. He did a lot of things right including kicking out many of Bowden's players that should have never had SEC scholarships and cleaning out the trash. Though he should have never made Auburn fans wear Orange. Orange is not Auburn. Orange is Nebraska, orange is Tennessee, orange (to a lesser extent) is Florida...it is NOT AUBURN. The only thing worse is the drop shadow jerseys of Bowden's doing.
  • Nallsminger nearly cost him his job. I personally saw blocking schemes and plays from some of the AU staff to a HS assistant coach in Statesboro, Ga. When my jaw nearly hit the floor the HS coach responded "That's why the HS coaches love the AU staff...full access". They then wondered why Georgia Tech knew each play we were calling as we lined up. Thanks Hugh!
  • Al Borges saved an offense that was awful the year before and turned it into something beautiful to watch. Then, systematically, his legs were taken out from under him by the brotherhood of BBQ.
  • Borges was fired. Eddie Gran interviewed Tony Franklin, Tubs met him later and the rest (as they say) is history.
  • Anyone wonder what the real deal with Chette Williams is/was? That's one I never got my arms around...how did out team go from unity to not even caring when their own or opposing player was injured. I'd still like to know that story that no one dares to talk about....
  • Ever wonder why Chaz Ramsey left? I have a pretty good source as to why, but don't feel is is right to air that family's business. I can tell you one factor: A certain offensive line coach's untrained medical opinion on what was best for that young man.
  • Like it or not, Tuberville has slowly disengaged from the internal processes with the football team over the past few years. I think there was a glimmer of hope that he could have saved it, but I think it was very unlikely.
  • Auburn interviews many candidates. Supposedly, we had a shot at Steve Spurrier if we took care of his son on the back end of the deal. Mike Leach supposedly called us. Will Muschamp may have even left UT (or not ever left AU) if Jay Jacobs hadn't messed with him previously. Note: I still don't like the way Muschamp's DBs never look back for the ball (see many examples including UT v. TT 2008).

We got Chizik, the applicable backlash, and no one really wants to take blame..umm...I mean credit. That's just fantastic. Chalk another one up to the good ole boys.

The Basics

  • I'm a fan of all things Auburn.
  • I'm an Auburn University Alumni (1998).
  • I formulate foods and drugs for a living.
  • I don't take people who can't do their job completely and correctly lightly; if I performed in my job that way, people would die.
  • I'm tired of message boards and people who can't take rightful and honest criticism (and support) to the program(s) as appropriate.
  • I'm tired of the powers that be ruining both the program, and the experience of going to a football game.
  • Welcome to the show.
